About cable materials, How much do you know ?

Data cables are indispensable in our daily life. However, do you really know how do choose a cable through its materials?

As a consumer, the touch feeling will be the most immediate way for us to judge the quality of a data cable. It may feels hard or soft. In fact, the different sense of touch represents the different outer layer of the data cable. Generally, there are three kinds of materials to build a cable layer, PVC, TPE and braided wire.
Data cables play a significant role in the charging and data transfer of mobile phones. Therefore, it is of great importance to choose the outer materials of cable. A poor quality connection cables can lead to extended charging times, unstable data transmission, breakage and other potential problems, and may even lead to the scrapping or explosion of electronic devices.

PVC(Polyvinyl chloride) materials：
Advantages：
1. low cost of construction, good insulation and weather resistance.
2. PVC data cables are more cheaper than other kinds of cables
Disadvantages：
1. hard texture, poor resilience, easy to cause breakage and peeling.
2. The surface is rough and dull.
TPE（Thermoplastic Elastomer ) materials：
Advantages：
1. excellent processing performance, excellent coloring, soft touch, weather resistance, fatigue resistance and temperature resistance.
2. safe and non-toxic, no odour, no irritation to human skin.
3. can be recycled to reduce costs.

Disadvantages：
1. not resistant to dirt.
2. Not as strong as braided cable material improper use will lead to burst skin.
In a word, TPE is actually a soft rubber material that can be moulded by ordinary thermoplastic moulding machines. Its flexibility and toughness are greatly improved compared to PVC, but most importantly it is more environmentally friendly and can be recycled to reduce costs. Most of the original data cables for mobile phones are still made of TPE.
Data cables can also burst if it is used for a long time, so it can be difficult to use one cable until you buy a new phone. But the good news is that new products are being developed all the time, and the more durable braided cable material is now available.

Nylon braided wire materials:

Advantages:
1.increase the aesthetics and external tensile strength of the cable.
2. no tugging, soft, bending and conforming, very good resilience, not easily tangled or creased.
3. Excellent durability, not easily deformed.

Disadvantages:
1. Greater moisture absorption.
